Boston?

We're going to be heading down to Boston in about a week. For anybody who has been there (or hasn't been there, but still has good ideas) - what are the things to see? I'm amassing a list, and I'm open to suggestions, if anyone has any.

If you like seafood, or even if you don't you will LOVE this place. It is called "No Name Resteraunt", look it up and go, it is amazing. It is on the pier. The other one is called Legal Seafood, it is a little pricy, and if you go we were in jeans and felt out of place, so if money is an issue, don't go to that one. But hit all the other sights, the place where the Boston tea Party was, the mall is amazing if you are into shopping. Why are you going? For fun?

So, we have been there a few times. Here are my suggestions. Be sure to do the freedom trail. Its kind of must see, but we really liked it. We also enjoyed walking around the beacon hill area. We have been to the science museum which was a lot of fun, but not a must see if you are only there for a short amount of time. The temple is really pretty, but not right in the city. Boston is a fun city. Its really not all that big and is very walkable. Too bad we're not in MA or we would have loved going there with you. We are thinking of maybe coming to your area for a long weekend this fall. What would you think?

Send me an email if you have any more questions about Boston. I'm no expert, but can tell you what I know.

We went last year and we loved it!!!! Of course, the freedom trail. That has most of your major historical sites on it in the city. While you are there - you have to go to Mike's Pastries - so delicious!!! There are some great Italian restaurants on that same street.

We really liked exploring the outskirts of Boston as well. We loved Walden Pond, the North Bridge, and there were lots of author's homes out there as well like Louisa May Alcott's. You had to pay to get into each one so if you want to do that - you may want to get the musuem pass.

As far as in the city - besides the Freedom Trail - we also went to the Aquarium. It was cool, but not at the top of my list. We LOVED Old Ironsides and the museum - especially Johnny. It was pretty fun.

Good luck! We are so jealous because we LOVED Boston!

I would have to recommend the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. It was this old huge house she had and she made it all up to be an art museum. There is a small picture of Christ carrying the cross that was very touching, plus a Rembrandt self portrait. Everything in there is a work of art- even the furniture. It was my favorite place. http://www.gardnermuseum.org/

New England Holocoust Memorial. It was my favorite thing in Boston. It is right across the street from the Oyster House (which is another spot to go, it is the oldest working Resturant in the United States) Also, walking the Freedom Trail is really neat. I didn't get to do too much of that, but what I did see wast great. Have Fun! I LOVED Boston it was one of my favorite non-church history sites on my trip.
